About

I’m Ronnie

But most people call me Ron.

I’m a freelance editor with thirteen years’ experience in branded content, documentary and factual films. I’ve cut work for Barclays, American Express, McDonald’s, Meta, Chanel, Condé Nast and the John Lewis Partnership, on subjects from winemaking and life sciences to ocean conservation.

I’m a story-led editor at heart. I love digging through interviews, finding the moments that make someone feel real, and shaping them into films with pace, personality and emotional pull. I’m particularly at home with interview-led storytelling and making complicated subjects feel human and engaging.

I’m also a bit obsessive about music and sound. For me, the right track, a well-timed pause or a tiny piece of actuality can completely change how an edit feels. Basically, give me a mountain of footage and a good story buried somewhere inside it, and I’m very happy.

How I edit

Most of my attention goes on how a film feels from one moment to the next: where it draws you in, where it breathes, and what it leaves you with.

I work fast, but I always make time to watch a cut back the way an audience would, with fresh eyes.

More on how I work

Why I’m brought in

I’m usually brought in because I’m quick, reliable and easy to work with, and because I edit with emotion first. Producers know I’ll hit the deadline and hand back a film that makes people feel what it should.

Most of that work is branded films, documentaries and campaign pieces, six of them award winners. I also cut interviews, case studies, event and awards films, and showreels and sizzles.

Day to day I work in Premiere Pro and After Effects.

How I got here

I fell for editing at school, when the edit of a student film landed in my lap. I went on to study Media & Moving Image at Westminster Kingsway College, then Editing and Post-Production at Ravensbourne University.

I started as an assistant, learning from some very good freelance editors. I became Senior Editor at one of the UK’s leading branded content agencies.

Later I moved from London, my home town, to Spain, and I now work freelance.

Working with me

I work remotely with producers and agencies in the UK, Australia and the US. I’m comfortable across time zones and flexible with my hours, so calls, reviews and deliveries can fit around your day rather than mine.

I’m used to working independently and being trusted to get on with it, and I’m in London from time to time when a project benefits from being in the room.

Say hello

If you’re planning a film, or already in the edit,
I’d be glad to hear about it.
